Games on May 29
Stutman Chiropractic | 15 |
Worthy Insurance | 11 |
Stutman Chiropractic looked to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss in their previous game. By the fourth inning, thanks to some great defense and timely hitting, Stutman Chiropractic was up 12-1. But Worthy Insurance started to mount a comeback, scoring 7 runs over the next few innings. However, in the bottom of the 6th, the Chiropractors would score a few more runs, which would be enough to take the win and improve their record to 3-1 on the season.
It was a full team effort, with more than half of the Stutman Chiropractic players recording multiple hits. Of special note was Modo Artman, who crushed a HR, scoring himself and Shulie Hochman (who hit a deep triple to RF in the previous at bat.)
Levin and Gann | 7 |
AMF Creative | 6 |
Levin & Gann improved to 3-1 by winning a nail biter against AMF Creative 7-6. After giving up 3 in the top of the first, Levin & Gann settled down, shored up its defense, got some timely hitting throughout the entire order, and pulled out the victory.
In the win, Levin & Gann put away the formerly undefeated team Donny Ankri Architects. Ankri hitters were frustrated throughout the entire game, with Levin & Gann’s pitcher mixing in the knuckleball in timely spots. After holding the Architects hitless through 3, they finally came away with a run, cutting into Levin & Gann’s lead, 4-1. Levin & Gann tacked on 4 more heading into the top of the 7th, up 8-1. The Architects last ditch effort came up short, only scoring 1 more to lose their first game of the season, 8-2. Levin & Gann played an almost flawless field. Eli Rappaport’s stellar 2nd base playing set the tone early. Every player contributed, including sub Shmuel “Shmelkie” Fischler.
Games on June 19
AMF Creative | 15 |
KD Gold & Coin Exchange | 9 |
After losing its second straight game, AMF put together an all-around game to beat KD Gold & Coin Exchange. AMF fell behind early 7-2 but got a quick surge from Binyamin Blackman who, after being awarded first base due to an unfortunate tripping incident in his first at bat, took his frustration out on the ball and crushed a 2-run triple down the right field line to narrow KD’s lead. Chaim Glazer Sr. went 4 for 4 and was stellar both behind the plate (at Catcher) as well as his play at 2B. Aryeh Wolf entertained like always with his amazing running on the base paths. AMF brought out the long ball later on, powered by 2 run HRs each by Yankie Goldsmith and Yehuda Morris in the bottom of the 6th inning, to add 5 insurance runs for a final score of 15-9.
KD Gold & Coin Exchange | 12 |
LBSI | 2 |
LBSI jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but in the bottom of the first, KD answered with 6 of their own. The defense solidified for the rest of the game, and Pitcher Richard Buck went on to pitch masterfully. Yossi Muller and Ozzie Marizan each went 3-3 in the game, as KD Gold and Coin Exchange ultimately defeated LBSI 12-2 in 6 innings.
Stutman Chiropractic | 24 |
Donny Ankri Architects | 24 |
In game one of a double header and first place on the line, Donny Ankri Architects (DAA) and Stutman Chiropractic (SC) played a long, high scoring game that went until the final out. Both teams started off playing sloppily and thanks to some bad fielding combined with some good hitting, it was 12-11 after the first 2 innings. The scoring would not stop there as DAA would take a 9-run lead into the bottom of the 6th. With 2 outs and 2 on, SC would put up 3 runs to come within 6 runs. After holding DAA scoreless, SC would come alive to score 6 runs and tie the game in the bottom of the last inning!
Some highlights on the day included 2 diving plays by SS Donny Ankri (for DAA) as well as a HR to CF by Modo Artman (for SC.)
