Girls Chesed League Launches 7th Season With Inspiration And Action

The Girls Chesed League proudly launched its seventh season last week with palpable excitement and a renewed sense of purpose. On Monday, nine teams gathered at Suburban Orthodox Congregation Toras Chaim to hear words of Torah and inspiration from Rabbi Silber and to learn more about the League’s structure and upcoming activities.

Rabbi Silber shared a powerful message based on the Talmudic story of Rabbi Yochanan, who “rolled up his sleeve” when visiting his sick friend Rabbi Elazar, and the room was filled with light. He explained that this story symbolizes our responsibility to “roll up our sleeves” and take action when others are in need. His words set the tone for the season — one of compassion, commitment, and hands-on involvement in acts of chesed throughout the Baltimore community.

The Girls Chesed League, sponsored by Blue Ocean, is a shining example of unity and collaboration within Baltimore’s diverse Jewish community. Participants come from Bais Yaakov, Beth Tfiloh, Bnos Yisroel, and Ohr Chadash Academy, joining together with one shared mission: to make a difference through kindness.
In just the first two weeks of the season, the League has already partnered with a number of incredible organizations, including Imadi, Bikur Cholim, Sterling Care, the new Jewish Library of Baltimore, The Friendship Circle, Aventura Assisted Living, and Chai Lifeline Mid-Atlantic. Each partnership has given the girls a deeper appreciation for the wide range of chesed opportunities available and the many ways our community supports those in need.

The girls expressed pride in being part of something larger than themselves and in taking an active role in giving back. The enthusiasm and sense of purpose were unmistakable, as each participant embraced the chance to “roll up her sleeves” and spread light through meaningful action.

Special thanks go to the League’s generous team sponsors: The Mimi Boutique, Pompomz, Councilman Isaac “Yitzy” Schleifer, Nina Elman Interiors, Leba D Photography, David Flamm – Nationwide Agency, Simcha Steps, Winterwood Florals, and The Naomi Center. Additional thanks to our corporate sponsor Baltimore Jewish Life and Baltimore Jewish Home and to Kayla’s Custom Made for sponsoring the opening activity, Mr. Jon Kaplan for providing the delicious food, and Suburban Orthodox Toras Chaim for graciously hosting the kickoff event.
With such a strong and spirited start, the Girls Chesed League looks forward to a season filled with growth, unity, and countless opportunities to bring light and kindness to the Baltimore community.
