A Smashing Success: Community Connects At The JCS Memory Café At L’Chaim Adult Day Center

This past Wednesday, the L’Chaim Adult Day Center hosted a warm and engaging session of the JCS Memory Café, a special event for individuals experiencing memory changes and their family members. The café, which is a partnership between L’Chaim and Jewish Community Services (JCS), provides a supportive and welcoming space for socialization, network building, and personal enrichment.

The recent gathering was a “smashing success,” where attendees shared a meaningful experience facilitated by Amy Steinberg from Jewish Community Services. The program began with calming breathing exercises to center the group, followed by a mindful art activity. They reflected on nature scenes, channeled those insights into a decorative paper design, and then utilized sunlight to illuminate their work, bringing the scene to vibrant life.

The participants, who were clearly engaged and enjoying themselves, worked on their art while enjoying conversation and refreshments. The atmosphere was relaxed and connected, proving why this “simple concept creates such a powerful and supportive community.”
