A Meaningful Gathering: Mesorah Baltimore’s Women’s Brunch And Scholar In Residence Program

Mesorah Baltimore recently concluded a deeply uplifting and successful Scholar in Residence program featuring Mrs. Dina Schoonmaker, highlighted by a beautiful and well-attended Women’s Brunch. The program brought together women from across the community for several days of Torah learning, inspiration, and connection, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated. The Scholar in Residence program was made possible through a generous grant from The Charles Crane Family Foundation.

The Women’s Brunch, sponsored in memory of Celia Firestein, a’h, served as the kickoff to the program and provided a warm and elegant setting for participants to gather in the spirit of camaraderie and shared growth. Attendees enjoyed a thoughtfully prepared buffet by Yevents while engaging with one another in meaningful conversation. The atmosphere was one of genuine connection, as women of all ages came together to learn, reflect, and be inspired by Mrs. Schoonmaker’s impactful opening remarks.

At the brunch, Mrs. Schoonmaker shared words of Torah that set the tone for the entire program, encouraging reflection, personal growth, and renewed perspective. Her message underscored the power of Torah learning to provide strength, clarity, and menuchas hanefesh, particularly during times of uncertainty. Many attendees noted how personally relevant her words felt, offering insights and guidance they could carry with them long after the program concluded.

The Scholar in Residence program continued throughout the week with a series of captivating shiurim delivered by Mrs. Schoonmaker. With her trademark clarity, depth, and relatability, she addressed themes that resonated deeply with participants, seamlessly weaving together Torah sources with practical insight and emotional sensitivity. Her ability to speak to both the heart and the mind created a learning experience that felt at once elevated and accessible.

The success of the program was evident not only in the strong attendance but also in the palpable sense of inspiration that filled each session. Women lingered after shiurim to continue conversations, ask thoughtful questions, and connect with one another, which is an organic and meaningful extension of the learning itself. The program created space not only for listening, but for genuine engagement and shared reflection. Mesorah Baltimore extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Dina Schoonmaker for dedicating her time, energy, and wisdom to our community. We are deeply appreciative of her willingness to travel, teach, and connect so generously with our participants. Sincere thanks are also extended to our sponsors and supporters, whose dedication and generosity made this program possible.

The Women’s Brunch and Scholar in Residence program stand as a powerful testament to the impact of Torah learning experienced together. Mesorah Baltimore is proud to create opportunities that uplift, inspire, and strengthen our community, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the programs ahead.
