The walls of the L’Chaim Adult Day Center were filled with a spirit of achdus this past Thursday as a unique delegation of students arrived for a morning of connection and inspiration. The visit brought together local students from Beth Tfiloh High School alongside visiting peers from Budapest, Hungary, as part of the SOS International Gesher Ambassadors Program. Despite the miles between their homes, the young visitors and the L’Chaim participants found immediate common ground in their shared heritage. The room hummed with energy as students shared stories of Jewish life in Budapest and their preparations for the upcoming Pesach holiday, while the seniors reciprocated with rich and diverse life stories and lessons.
The atmosphere was a true Kiddush Hashem, marked by spirited singing and fun word games that transcended language barriers. Whether speaking English or Hungarian, the students’ commitment to the value of Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh B’Zeh was palpable. Chaperones from Beth Tfiloh and SOS International looked on as a beautiful intergenerational bond was forged, proving that the flame of Jewish identity burns brightly across all ages and borders. It was more than just a visit; it was a powerful reminder of the strength of our global Jewish family and the joy that comes when we have the opportunity to listen and learn from one another.
Special thank you to Devora Teichman for coordinating this event.
